Thanks to the generous blood donors and the committed and professional staff of the Malawi Blood Transfusion Services, German Cooperation’s second blood donation event, on February 1, was a resounding success. The German Embassy, KfW and GIZ would like to express their sincere and heartfelt gratitude to all donors and the medical team for this great show of compassion.

Across this and last year’s event, over 100 people have come forward and donated blood. Hosting these events reflects German Cooperation’s commitment to closing the blood donation gap. “Donating blood saves lives”, commented Juergen Borsch, German ambassador, during the latest blood drive.

Blood transfusion shortages pose a risk not only to some of the most vulnerable members of society, such as children and expecting mothers, but to everyone in the country. Blood donation takes only half an hour of your time, it is 100 percent safe, and it literally saves lives. If you have not done it so far, German Cooperation would be very happy to have you join us and the many others who donate blood already at our next blood donation event.
