Visa for Malawi Residents

Schengen Visa

Since November 2013 Norway is representing Germany in matters concerning the handling of applications for Schengen visas. Therefore, residents of Malawi who intend to apply for visas to visit Germany should contact the Norway Visa Application Centre at Corporate Mall, Chilambula Road, Lilongwe.

Please note that the Norway Visa Application Centre's responsibility is limited to Schengen visas only (visas for short-term stays of less than 90 days, i.e. for holiday and business travel).

National German Visa

For long-term stays over 90 days which require a national German visa (D-Visa) the German Embassy in Lusaka remains the sole authority. This includes visas for family reunion, students and working visas.

VIS - Visa Information System

The Visa Information System – VIS

The Visa Information System (VIS) is an IT system that allows Schengen States to exchange visa data. The main purpose of the VIS is to simplify the visa issuance process, facilitate checks at external borders and to enhance security for everyone involved, including applicants.
