On Friday, July 18th 2014, Johannes Scharlau, Deputy Head of the German Embassy accompanied by Gregor Suchan and Liman Mawanda attended the annual Farewell Party of the Lilongwe Teachers’ College (TTC). The main reason for their visit was that students from both, the TTC and the attached Demonstration School were among the winners of the CREATIVE COMPETITION held by the German Embassy on the occasion of the FIFA World Cup, which the German team was able to win for the fourth time.

The students of the TTC managed to convince the jurors with an inspiring performance referring to Germanys World Cup Squad. Within a short time the students came up with their own World Cup song to which they have created an impressive choreography. For their achievement, Mr. Johannes Scharlau handed over football equipment - including jerseys, shorts and footballs - to the students. The students of the Demonstration School were also awarded with their share of football equipment for contributing drawings of “Die Mannschaft”, showing a great level of creativity.

The students were very happy about the sports equipment and the German Embassy is proud to have been able to contribute to the Farewell Party in such a nice way.
